What Hamuq Changed, and Why

When you build a company, not every part of it is great from day one.

That was true for us too.

Over the years, some customers had frustrating experiences with Hamuq. The biggest issues were not really about whether the mattress was comfortable. They were usually about the process around it. Returns could feel too rigid. Warranty claims could involve too much back and forth. Some customers felt like getting help took more effort than it should have.

That criticism was real. We took it seriously.

A lot of the friction came from how our systems were set up at the time. We wanted to make sure returned mattresses were still in donatable condition. We wanted to verify warranty issues properly. Those goals were reasonable, but the experience did not always feel reasonable from the customer side. That is on us.

So we changed it.

What we changed

We made the return and warranty process clearer, easier, and more customer-friendly. We reduced the kind of back and forth that made people feel stuck in the process. We updated our warranty approach to be more generous too, including lowering the indentation threshold from 2 inches to 1 inch.

That matters because the details matter.

If someone has a problem, they should not feel like they are entering a paperwork contest. They should feel like they are dealing with a company that listens, responds clearly, and wants to solve it properly.

We also improved our operations more broadly. That includes better quality control, better communication, and a better overall customer experience from order to delivery to post-purchase support.

What is different now

The result is simple: fewer people are running into issues, and fewer people are leaving unhappy. Our return rate has dropped from around 15% in the early days to under 5% today.

That does not mean we are perfect. It means we have gotten better, and we plan to keep getting better.

If you are researching Hamuq and come across an old Reddit thread or an old complaint, read it. Seriously. We are not asking anyone to ignore criticism. We are saying context matters. A company should be judged not just by where it struggled, but by whether it listened and improved.

That is what we have worked to do.
