1. Outside dimensions, not mattress size
A queen mattress is 60 by 80 in. Hamuq queen frames run 79 to 88 in long and 59 to 70 in wide. The frame decides whether the room works.
2. Slat spacing and centre support
Hamuq's hybrid specification is slats no more than 7.5 cm apart with a centre support on queen and up. Silk and Snow requires the same 3 in; Douglas is tighter at 2.5 in. Both require a centre beam.
3. A published capacity, if it matters to you
Only three of the Canadian sellers we read publish one on their own pages. Everything else is a listing-title claim with no test behind it.
4. Does the trial cover the frame

What size bed frame do I need? Frame size against mattress size
The mattress size is the number every listing shows and the frame's outside size is the number that fits or does not fit the room. Because Hamuq publishes a dimension drawing for every frame at every size, we can give the real range at each size rather than a rule of thumb. The clearance figure is the room width you need with 24 in of walking space on each side of the widest frame in that size, which is the minimum most room planners use.

Two things follow from the table. First, the gap between mattress and frame is not fixed: a low platform adds 2 in to a queen's width while a boucle frame with a padded surround adds 10 in. Second, height matters more than most buyers expect. A 10 in platform with a 12 in hybrid gives a 22 in sleep surface; a 15 in adjustable base with the same mattress gives 27 in, which is where getting in and out starts to feel like climbing for shorter sleepers. Read down a column and the spread at a single size is the whole story of what a frame is: at queen, $500 CAD buys a 68 lb platform with no headboard and $1,229 CAD buys a 190 lb storage bed with a tufted headboard and drawers, on the same slat principle. Read across a row and size adds far less than most buyers assume: the Upholstered Platform costs $239 more in king than in twin, and the Boucle Platform $240 more in king than in full. Who publishes a weight capacity, and the load math
This is the single most useful thing the twelve guides found. Marketplace listings advertise capacities of 800 to 3,200 lb in their titles with no test standard, no method and no per-side figure. Among sellers whose own pages could be read, exactly three publish a capacity: Silk and Snow at 1,100 lb for full, queen and king, Douglas at 700 lb for full to California king stated as 350 lb per side, and Hamuq at 500 lb on the Floating Wood and Storage Wood frames. Hamuq publishes nothing on its other eleven frames, though the Storage Wood with Headboard shares the same 500 lb base and this guide says so plainly. Endy publishes none.

The reading is straightforward. A 500 lb frame covers an average couple with room to spare and a single sleeper up to about 400 lb, and it does not cover a couple that includes a 300 lb sleeper. A 700 lb frame covers most couples with one heavy sleeper, provided neither side passes 350 lb once half the mattress is counted. An 1,100 lb frame covers every scenario in the table. Neither Hamuq rated frame is made in king, so there is no Hamuq king with a published capacity, a point the king guide makes too. What each price band actually publishes
Across the twelve guides the clearest pattern was not about materials but about information. The cheaper the frame, the more the listing tells you about the claim and the less it tells you about the product. Somewhere around $300 CAD, sellers start publishing a capacity with a per-side figure, a slat spacing in inches and the frame's outside dimensions, and that is the point where a frame becomes a product with a specification you can hold the seller to.

If you are buying a mattress and a frame together, the frame's own trial is the one to read. The mattress side, briefly
The frame carries the mattress every night, so the mattress weight and its base requirements belong in a frame decision. Hamuq's Original Hybrid is 89 lb in queen and 106 lb in king, and its Organic Hybrid 120 lb and 145 lb; Douglas's Original Hybrid is 91 lb in queen and its Summit Hybrid 102 lb; Endy's Hybrid about 100 lb; Casper's Original Hybrid 97 to 111 lb depending on firmness. Where Hamuq is not the answer
Three cases came up repeatedly across the guides. If you need a published capacity above 500 lb, or any published capacity in king, Hamuq does not have one and Douglas and Silk and Snow do. If your budget is under $300 CAD, Hamuq's cheapest frame is $360 CAD in twin and the marketplace, IKEA and promotional Douglas and Silk and Snow frames are cheaper. And if you want an all-foam mattress on the frame, Hamuq makes only hybrids. How much bigger should a bed frame be than the mattress?

Is a solid base or slats better?
Quick answer: Both are accepted by every hybrid maker read, provided they are rigid. Douglas lists a solid flat platform and slats 2.75 in wide spaced 2.5 in apart as equally compatible; Silk and Snow accepts either with a centre beam on queen and up. Slats allow airflow under the mattress; a solid deck does not, which matters in humid rooms.
Does a bed frame need a centre support?
